My husband loved his cat..

My husband had a cat when we met.  He had been this cats mom and pop for seven years.  He and his other wife had other cats, but Sox was his cat.  I am so not a cat person, but you know, when a man has been with the same cat for seven years, you can't just go tossing the cat out.  So, the best way to win a man, is through his cat, right?  Ok, that was a pretty pitiful attempt at comedy.  Instead of laughing, did you know you really can get a cat all fixed up and put him/her in with some good duds.

I had no clue that there was even such a thing as a cat condo.  I mean, really, cats can live more than nine lives if you fix them up just right.  You can go check it out and if your man comes with a cat that he has had for seven years, you might wanna pamper his cat, it is really easy.  So, go see, give it a whirl.  See, if your cat needs a little pumping up.

Lasik baby

My husband is a prime candidate for Lasik.  He has about the worst vision of anyone I know.  He wears contacts and he has a pair of spare glasses that I'm telling you, Mr. Magoo has nothing on this man.  I am very reluctant to go places with him when he has those things on.  They truly are about the ugliest things I've ever seen.

Now, me, I have the kind of ailing vision that comes with age.  Yes, yes, I'm almost 40 and I'm having issues with my reading.  You know, I'm getting to the point where my arms aren't going to be long enough for me to hold something and read it.  I'm gonna have to either get some glasses for reading or find someone to hold everything I need to read.  No really, don't you guys think I'd look better without glasses...I know my husband would look better without.

Your treadmill

Do you have a treadmill?  Honestly, I have one, it has never been plugged into the socket.  No really, it was used by some loyal person before me who admitted to using it more for hanging clothes on instead of "getting fit".  I've done really well about using it for hanging clothes on, obviously since it is in my office at school, there's not a lot of clothes there to hang.

I told my husband way back yonder, like before Christmas, that I would like to have one.  And, now I am the proud owner of a treadmill.  Yes, it has been used before but er..that's the point in having one right?  To use it.  It did need a new belt and well, it has taken me a little long time to order a belt, you know, like six or eight months but now, now it is has been ordered.  Who knows if I ordered the right one and of course, that could delay my great get fit 2008 plan but eh, you gotta start somewhere, right?

My kind of wine

I am ashamed to admit that I am not a big wine drinker.  I've never been educated in what is considered the "good" stuff nor have I been educated in what goes with what meal.  If you are one of those high class wine drinkers, you probably don't understand.  And, at the very least, you could simply try to educate me.

One way to learn about wine and the tasting of each, is to check out and join wine clubs.  By checking these out, you can learn about some of California's best small premium vineyards, the two highly known wines from family-owned wineries which are hidden throughout California.

These wine clubs can offer you wines for the most discriminating palate.  Each delivery features 2 extraordinary, ultra-premium, collectable wines from the top wine makers in California.  And, the Diamond series showcases the legendary wines and even those which are simply picked to be legendary soon.  This club is so elite, it is limited to only 500 members.  See, those wine drinkers are true snobs.  Oops, I didn't say that.

Sleeping Beauty

I love to sleep. For years I told me that my occupation was sleeping and job description was to dream. Yea, sounds stupid but I am really not kidding. I loved to sleep and I loved nice pillows, blankets, comforters and a perfect foam mattress was what made it possible for me to slumber so well. As it turned out, I have sleep apnea so even when I was sleeping, the hours on end that I was sleeping, I wasn't resting, I was sleeping but not getting the needed rest.

Now, I have it all, I have the perfect sleep. I have my mouthpiece for my TMJ, I have the Cpap machine for my sleep apnea, I have the 3 best pillows ever (one I've had since I was 14, it just keeps getting re-covered), I have some of the best bed mates (my husband, of course, and my 2 son's, ages 3 and 5) and honestly, sleeping is pleasurable now but it isn't like I walk around dreaming of my next nap, my next night of sleep. I sleep now, I rest now and I can function so much better. I can't imagine going back to that place where I slept 14 hours a day and begged for more.

Do you play golf?

I don't play golf.  I did play waaay back in college.  I took golf as a matter of fact.  Yes, my degree is in physical education and golf was one of five electives for individual sports.  If it makes you feel any better, I took swimming and badminton for my other 2 choices.  Anyway, my husband-to-be at that time was a big big golfer.  That's an under statement, but I can't actually type the word big but so many times.  Anyway, we would play together only when he had no one else to go with him and/or he was trying to get brownie points.  He hated my game.  The reason?  My game wasn't very good.  And, I spent quite a bit of time in the woods simply looking for my ball.

So, you can see where when I shopped for golf balls, I wasn't into expensive stuff.  I needed some that it wouldn't break my pocketbook if I lost all of them in 9 holes.  I'm not kidding, I really did spend that much time just searching for my ball.  And, yes, I did learn a little bit in that class.  But, that practice course we played on didn't have woods in between the holes.  The holes were simply lined up much like a putt-putt course.  And, well, you know, those darn trees just kept getting in my way.

Wrinkles, doggone 'em

My father was a very vain man.  He had every lotion and cream I had ever heard of.  And, basically, all of my life I remember he and my mom (not married and or anything, just memories of them doing the same thing) using creams and lotions.  My mom would use this horrible stuff at night that turned her face green all over.  My dad used this even more disgusting stuff that looked and felt like snot to me.  I absolutely abhor the stuff those 2 exposed me to.  I still am not fond of lotions and have to force myself to use it.  I'm not kidding, I look at my dry legs and think, holy cow girl, do something about that.  My hands are much the same.  They age spots and sun spots on them but otherwise they are fairly normal.  And, lotion makes them look a little less flaky.  But, I honestly don't care how they feel.  I don't care that they are rough.  I rarely even notice unless I find it difficult to pick up pieces of paper.

And, as vividly as I remember my mom and dad using creams and the like on their face, I was determined not to do that.  But, when you have age spots and sun spots there too (obviously, if you don't like lotion, wearing sunscreen is no fun either), you need something on your face to help with the wrinkles.  I've found a few, and I do mean very few, creams that I like.  I am constantly in search for the top wrinkle cream that can do all I want it to do by simply sitting on my counter still in the bottle.  Guess I ask for an awful lot eh?

Reading...simply learning to read

As my oldest son spends his last summer before he enters kindergarten, I'm trying to keep him busy.  I'm planning for him to get some time out of the daycare by sending him to a little thing at the local community college called Kids Kollege.  It is much like daycare in some ways, but mom won't be there.  I hope to gain some insight on his behavior in the presences of other adults where mom is not the boss.

He knows a lot of sight words.  He can spell many words and is clearly on his way to learning to read.  The sad part of it all is that his father and I are not big readers of books.  And, I know for a fact that many people who I consider to be smarter than me, or more worldly than me, were all big readers.  So many places can be visited through books.  So much knowledge right at your fingertips.

I know that come August, we will have more books in our home than ever before and we will need to make sure we can help our son learn to read and enjoy reading.  My husband and I both have attention deficit issues.  I feel in my hear that Walker does as well.  I hope that we can teach him early on the benefits of reading a lot of different books, papers, journals, genres so that he can be one of those people who knows a lot of things about a lot of things.

If you only knew

I've been through more computers in the past couple of years than most folks go through in a life time.  Part of it is the multitude of things I use my computer for and that alone is cause for lots of programs.  And, then there's just my desire to learn.  That causes me to download a lot of stuff that I later don't use or need, but I forget.  But, when I turn over my baby to my husband to "clean" up, I get hives.  I know he is going to start deleting and un-installing stuff at a rapid rate and what if it is something I really need?

He has this idea that we need an external hard drive so that I can move all my photos and the like to it on a regular basis and get them off of my laptop.  I thought that was an ingenious idea and really, it was, but when it came to fruition, we had one monster computer in our living room, not a simple place for me to store photos.  The next thing I know, this hard drive is being used with accessories to turn our thermostat up and down from other places or turn our lights on and off.

Go figure, that's my genius husband for you.

Sometimes my posts....

Sometimes I write posts about items that I'm not as familiar with as I am with Phentermine.  This is one that I'm fairly knowledgeable about because I actually have some in my possession right now.  I haven't taken them in several months but I have taken them quite often in the past.  I am over weight, that's no secret.  And, I've tried almost every method out there to lose weight.  I quit taking the phentermine when I learned that I had a thyroid disorder.

I decided to give the doc a chance to get my medication right before I continued to simply work on suppressing my appetite.  Basically what happened to me was that I was a big soda drinker.  And, I quit cold turkey.  I went to diet sodas but I would walk around all day eating.  I mean, you cut out as many calories as I did when I cut out 10 or 12 sodas and went to diet, and you are certain to be hungry.  Obviously I didn't need all those empty calories.

I do know that I needed help suppressing my appetite so that I could start to get a handle on my weight.  Cutting out the calories with soda was the first step, but I couldn't simply fill those calories with food and I needed help.
