Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 10:02AM Who knew that American Idol elimination shows were such a popular spot for celebrites. Read this, straight from People.com.
Sweating It Out: As Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards stood center stage to await to hear their fate, Chris reached out for Stephanie's hand. She must have made a remark about having sweaty palms because Chris laughed and then passed his other hand over her palm to mock wipe away the sweat. And though TV viewers never got to see Stephanie reprise her song from Tuesday night's show, "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," the singer got a standing ovation from the entire crowd about two-thirds of the way into her song. By the end, Stephanie had barely uttered the last phrase "Believe me" before the remaining Idols quickly swooped in for a big, long group hug before saying their individual good-byes.
Old Friends: There were no hard feelings between Teri Hatcher and Ryan Seacrest – who were romantically linked last year – when the Desperate Housewife attended Wednesday's elimination episode with boyfriend Stephen Kay and daughter Emerson in tow. Seacrest made his way over to Hatcher and greeted her with a friendly kiss on the cheek. And the actress was Ms. Popularity among the Idol judges: Even as the stage manager announced it was 20 seconds to air, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson congregated near Hatcher, who introduced everyone to Kay. Finally the stage manager said "16 seconds ... no one cares ...," which was executive producer Nigel Lythgoe's cue to get everyone into place on time.
Knot Kidding: Call it revenge for Paula's verbal swipes on Tuesday. As Ryan revealed that Stephanie and Chris were the Bottom Two, Simon mischievously took two gold strands hanging off Paula's fringed poncho-like top and tied them around the arm of her chair while Paula wasn't looking. When the show broke for commercial, Paula noticed she was tethered to her chair and immediately shot a look in Simon's direction. Randy saw what had happened and shook his head at Simon, who simply shrugged and left his seat. After Paula wrestled with the knot for a few minutes, a bodyguard finally came over and freed Paula from her fashion shackles.
Idol Reunion: Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini created quite a stir in the Idol audience. The singer was bombarded by a gaggle of preteen girls and graciously signed autographs before taking his seat for the show next to fellow ousted Idol, Brandon Rogers. But before settling into his chair for the night, Brandon commiserated with fellow season 6 rejects Leslie Hunt and Alaina Alexander in between signing autographs for fans. And Leslie was greeted with hugs all around – and hoisted in the air by Gina Glocksen – when she ran up on stage to see her old pals during a commercial break.
He's Not Worthy! British singer Lulu got her share of Idol worship from Chris Sligh after rocking the house with her performance of "To Sir, With Love." Chris waved his arms up and down to make the universal "We're not worthy" gesture towards Lulu and the flattered chanteuse pressed her palms in the prayer position and offered a slight bow back to Chris.

'Til Elimination: 'Til Death star Brad Garrett rushed the stage during Wednesday's show's first commercial break and gave Gina Glocksen a big bear hug. After the extended embrace, Glocksen looked towards her cheering section and mouthed incredulously "Oh my god!" as Garrett shook hands with the other Idols. The comedian then squeezed into a spot on the couch between Gina and Chris Richardson, where he settled in for some comic relief – eventually getting "voted off" by Ryan Seacrest. Blake Lewis showed his own quick comedic timing when he grabbed a sign from an audience member that read "Clay Aiken Hurt Me" punctuated with a frowning face and handed it to Garrett. The actor continued to ham it up with the sign, holding it when he took a seat in the audience.
